Age limits

It’s difficult to put an age limit on the iWALK 3.0 because physical condition and abilities vary considerably from individual to individual, especially in the elderly. iWALK 3.0 has been used successfully by people in their 70s and beyond, but we’ve also seen people in their early 60s who could not adapt. Put simply, to use the iWALK 3.0 you need average strength and balance. Personal assessment and sound judgement are the best tools to determine if an elderly person will succeed on the iWALK 3.0.

User ability requirement - rule of thumb

If you can briskly walk up and down stairs without using a hand rail, then you possess the physical abilities to use the iWALK 3.0.

Easy to get in and out of, I actually find it less hassle than normal crutches as you can balance in the knee crutch while you clip the 3 straps in. The sole is very grippy on wet tiles/slabs etc, gradients and gravel you need to take some care on but still better than crutches as you have your hands to help.

Website shows a lot of shorter people and petite women using the crutch, but I am 6’5″ 110kg and it worked out fine for me with a cast below the knee for broken tib and fib while waiting for swelling to go down for internal fixing surgery. I have an Ossur boot post op which I will have for 6 weeks, I am allowed to weight bear but will be using the crutch for 2 weeks until the wounds heal. Great piece of kit, I can now cook, carry a cup of tea, use the toilet normally and lift reasonable weights without much problems at all.

Definitely improved my quality of life.

Fantastic, this allows me to move around the house pretty freely, up and down the stairs, carrying things and chasing after two very small children! What a difference to when I just had traditional crutches. I found it really simple to setup and learn to use. Only mistake I made was putting the strap coverings on the wrong straps, once I corrected that it fit a lot more comfortably. Worth its weight in gold.

Seriously, a game changer for my wife who has a broken foot. So much better than the crutches. She was confident using after about one hour of practice.

I bought the iwalk to help with my charcot foot and will need to use it long term, it has enabled me to carry on cooking and moving freely around the house. I am still getting use to it outside but i have only had it a week and my aim is to walk my dog. It is much better than crutches and frees my hands up. I highly recommend to anyone that needs to non weight bare on one leg for long period.
